Darrell Glenn DeVoge, a 50-year-old resident of Cedar City, Utah, has been sentenced to six years in prison and three years of supervised release for stealing firearms from a licensed dealer. DeVoge was the last of three individuals sentenced for their involvement in the burglary of a C-A-L Ranch store in Cedar City in November 2023.
The other two defendants are Russell Wesley Gruber, identified as the ringleader and aged 31, and Parker Darrell DeVoge, age 21 and son of Darrell DeVoge. Gruber received a sentence identical to Darrell DeVoge—six years’ imprisonment and three years’ supervised release—on July 9, 2025. Parker DeVoge was sentenced to 16 months in prison and three years’ supervised release on April 22, 2025. All three were ordered to pay $2,406.11 in restitution to C-A-L Ranch.
Court documents show that on November 21, 2023, shortly before midnight, Gruber and both DeVoges broke into the C-A-L Ranch store while armed with guns provided by Gruber. These firearms had been stolen during previous burglaries by Gruber and Parker DeVoge. The group smashed display cases inside the store and stole dozens of firearms before fleeing the scene. In the early hours of November 22, Gruber and Parker returned for a second burglary attempt before the store opened.
In total, the defendants stole 75 firearms—including rifles, shotguns, revolvers, and pistols—as well as ammunition and firearm accessories such as red dot sights. The stolen weapons were stored by Gruber and Darrell DeVoge after being transported across state lines.
Acting U.S. Attorney Felice John Viti for the District of Utah announced the sentencing.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with the Cedar City Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorneys Christopher Burton and Brady Wilson prosecuted the case on behalf of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
