Travis Davies, a 47-year-old resident of Vernal, Utah, has been sentenced to 97 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for trafficking narcotics, including hundreds of blue fentanyl pills. The sentencing took place after Davies pleaded guilty on June 5, 2025, to possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute.
Court records show that law enforcement executed a search warrant at Davies’ home in Vernal on November 9, 2024. During the search, officers seized 296 blue fentanyl pills weighing approximately 33 grams. Authorities also found a digital scale and several small plastic baggies at the residence.
Davies was already known to law enforcement as a distributor of fentanyl and was apprehended with pills while on pretrial release for other drug trafficking cases. He has also obstructed justice during investigations into his activities.
The FBI Salt Lake City Field Office’s Vernal Resident Agency led the investigation into Davies’ case. Assistant United States Attorney Sam Pead from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah prosecuted the matter.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative organized by the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration and target cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation combines resources from programs such as the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) to address violent crime across communities.
