A Utah man has been indicted on drug charges following the seizure of over 4,800 grams of cocaine. Evar Mahmood Hashim, a 25-year-old resident of West Jordan, was charged after federal agents conducted a search warrant and allegedly found the narcotics.
The investigation began in May 2025 when the Davis County Metro Narcotics Strike Force started looking into a suspected drug trafficking organization believed to be distributing large amounts of narcotics in Utah. On June 10, 2025, agents executed a search warrant on a vehicle in Juab County, where Hashim was found as the driver. The search led to the discovery of approximately 4,836 grams of a substance that tested positive for cocaine.
Hashim faces charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. His initial court appearance is set for June 26, 2025, at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti for the District of Utah. The case is being investigated by both the Davis County Metro Narcotics Strike Force and the DEA.
Special Assistant United States Attorney Kelsy Young is prosecuting this case under Operation Take Back America. This initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations through resources from various Department of Justice programs.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
